No Evidence That Client Knew the Contraband Was Inside the Car

My client was in a car talking to a new friend when the police rolled up on them.  They were ordered out of the car at gunpoint and told to lay face down on the ground.  The police searched the car from top to bottom.  According to the police, cocaine was found along with drug paraphernalia on the passenger side of the car.  My client was verbally abused by the police.  My client interviewed several attorneys before meeting with me on the eve of her arraignment.  I assured her that so long as her version of what occurred was correct that she had nothing to worry about.  I met with the prosecutor outside of the courtroom before her case was called and explained to him that since there was no evidence that my client knew that the contraband was inside the car, there was no way that the state could prove it was in her possession. The prosecutor reluctantly had to admit that I was right.  We went into court and when the case was called the prosecutor announced a “no info” – all charges were dropped!  I immediately submitted my client’s paperwork to have her criminal history expunged from her record.

Case Dismissed!

Student at the University of Miami Busted for Possession of Marijuana

My client was a student at the University of Miami.  His RA (Resident Assistant) busted him and his roommate for possession of marijuana.  My client was from an upscale family with aspirations to go to law school.  We were able to come up with a strategy to get his case admitted into a diversion program.  When the program was completed, the case was dropped and I applied to get his record destroyed.  Last week the judge signed the expungement order.
